Centrum Wsparcia Osób Starszych w Miechowie as an innovative operation of self-government for the benefit of seniors

Summary/Abstract: Local governments throughoutPoland are increasingly taking measures to support older people. This is dictatedprimarily by demographic data, in connection with a rapidly aging society. In additionto institutional support offered by social welfare centers, one of the solutionsmay be to establish an Centrum Wsparcia Osób Starszych. Such a solution wasintroduced by the Gmina Miechów (Lesser Poland Voivodeship). Analyzing theCenter’s operation after 2 years of existence, an attempt was made to describeseveral activities that can be used in other municipalities.
