Summary/Abstract: In the author’s view the appearance and structure of every historical moment was determined by the united action of three laws: on the rhythmic of actions and counteractions; on the lack of coincidence of the curves outlined by the movement in every sphere of activity; on inertia, i.e. on the adherence to habits. The ever- increasing complexity of the subject of history enabled an increasing variety of combinations. Therefore the further forward in time was mankind, the greater the originality of every moment should be and so the more difficult it should become to bring it into some general category.Combining the rationalistic theory of progress and the romantic theory of the irreparable loss of primordial innocence, the new romanticism created the theory of progressive evil. According to that theory the growth of human freedom resulted in the enslavement of the economically weak sections by the economically strong sections of the population. Considering that to be a historical necessity the author set forth the idea that that necessity should be eliminated without coupling it with the rejection of Reason and the progressive forms created by it.The mechanistic, scientistic, “positivist”, “realistic” character of the new religion pertained to the fact that not just one prophet, messiah, god-man was considered to be the subject of a cult, of playing the role of a liberator but the collective, the class, the proletariat since the getting rid of necessity should occur “by necessity’; and also to the fact that the moment of getting rid of oppression had been conceived as a coup pertaining to oppression against the oppressors.
