Summary/Abstract: Roman Palester’s work for Radio Free Europe is a commonly known fact, while his contacts with the main Polish émigré journal, Paris-based "Kultura", and its chief editor, Jerzy Giedroyc, has remained enigmatic. However, as it appeared recently, beside several essays published by Palester in Kultura, in the archive of the Literary Institute in Maisons-Laffitte there is preserved a correspondence between the composer and Jerzy Giedroyc. Their letters, written between 1951 and 1987, confirm their long-life relationship, concentrated on matters important for Polish music and culture. The goal of this article is to analyze contacts between Roman Palester and Jerzy Giedroyc in the lights of the preserved correspondence.
