Summary/Abstract: The story of the "Seven Sages of Rome" is one that has fascinated western culture in the Middle Ages, while also reminding modern readers of the significant oriental influence on said culture. The aim of this article is to present the introduction of this story, as found in the manuscript Français 95 de la B.n.F, which represents a rendition the version A of the western cluster. This article is comprised of a short description of the manuscript, followed by a short presentation of the story’s nucleus, the transcription of the text in ancient French and its translation, ending with a short commentary of the text and its illumination.
