Summary/Abstract: This study envisages the relations between NATO member states and their strategic impact at international level. The end of the Cold War engendered competition between great powers and new strategic partnership have been created pointing out a new trend towards multipolarism. Despite of the solidarity aroused following the 9/11 events, great powers stick to the Cold War mentality. The US-China relations have positively evolved after the 9/11 events, but tensions continue to exist related to the issue of Taiwan, the US-Japan partnership aimed to blocking China’s eastern flank, the now traditional commercial differences. At its turn, EU has developed complex relations with China and Russia, but far from becoming strategic allies.
