Criteria for the constitution and delimitation of a corpus of linguistic biographies

Summary/Abstract: By conducting a doctoral research entitled ”La Biographie langagière, un outil didactique plurivalent” – The linguistic biography, a polyvalent teaching tool – we have studied linguistic representations and identity construction among secondary school pupils from an urban, plurilingual and multiethnic region, Romanian Dobrogea. To achieve these goals, we formed a heterogeneous corpus consisting of 578 linguistic repertoires, as many questionnaires about the language representations of pupils, as well as their 212 linguistic biographies. In this article, we present the method of collecting the data which led to the creation of a vast and relevant corpus in detail. We pay particular attention to all the stages in collecting the corpus of linguistic biographies, which are the central element of our doctoral research, situated at the crossroads between language didactics and sociolinguistics.
