Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on the phenomenon of plica polonica, or Polish plait, known in the baroque and Enlightenment periods in the Polish- Lithuanian Commonwealth. On the basis of two groups of sources, books of miracles and scientific texts, the article discusses the transformation of the way of thinking. This change is investigated at two levels: first, by identifying the nature of the discourses and their relation to the reality and, second, by analyzing the content of the written sources. This method helps to reveal Polish plait as a representation of a clash of two mentalities, religious and scientific.
