Principles of Adjectival Valency

Summary/Abstract: This paper points to the shortages of the previous practice concerning the treatment of adjectival valency, with special attention being paid to the issue of determining the contents of the notion of valency as the major linguistic mechanism for binding words into larger syntactic units. Like other carriers of valency, adjectives introduce amendments as well, by which the semantic type of amendment enables sub-classification of adjectives on predicators and modal operators.
