Summary/Abstract: This paper establishes a connection between the narrative on the origin of the cuckoo, the snake, and the mole and oral history discourse. It focuses on the anthropological perception of narrative mediation of knowledge of the past, which, in this concrete case, is realised through passing on oral contents within family and local traditions. Thus, the analysis is determined to a large extent by categories such as culture of remembrance, autobiographic remembrance, and narrative identity, apart from folkloristic and literary theory ones.
