Short measure of personality TIPI-P in a Polish sample

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the Polish adaptation of the Ten-Item Personality Inventory (TIPI-P), which is designed to measure five dimensions of personality as described in the Big Five model. The items were translated into Polish from the original English version. The equivalence of the two versions was confirmed in a study conducted on a sample of bilingual students. A series of four independent studies (on a total sample of over 500 students) were conducted to verify the psychometric properties of the Polish version of TIPI. They proved acceptable test-retest reliability of TIPI-P after two weeks. As in the original version of the inventory, the internal consistency coefficients are relatively low. Correlations between TIPI-P and NEO-FFI as well as between self-rating and peer-rating confirm the convergent and discriminant validity of TIPI-P scales. The results of the studies suggest that the Polish adaptation can be used in scientific research conducted on student samples.
