"Bulgaria" and "the Bulgarian" as a category of linguistic and cultural studies

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is a linguistic and cultural reconstruction of various ways of depicting Bulgaria and Bulgarians. The author refers to the assumptions of the theory of cultural linguistics and methodology. The source of the linguistic material are dictionary data and actual speech samples of young Poles. As a result we received, based on different semantic categories and a fundamentally positive valuation, not only a depiction of a state but also a sublingually conditioned depiction of its citizens.Although the sketch is only a reconnaissance in its nature, it may be a starting point for a reconstruction of the indicated semantic categories on the basis of different texts, diversified generically and functionally.
