Summary/Abstract: On Dec. 1, 1918, the decree by which Transylvania, Crişana, Banat and Maramureş is annexed to the Old Kingdom, forming the Great Romania, is pronounced. The event asserts the autonomy of the territories, confessional freedom for the inhabitants of Transylvania, the implementation of a democratic regime, a new agrarian reform, peace and justice. The joy and significance of the event brought to Alba Iulia a great crowd of people from all over the country. In order for this joy to be accomplished by the presence of the clergy, Metropolitan Nicolae Bălan - the one who linked the Transylvanian Romanian movement with the Government of Iaşi and the Allied Diplomats, sends Vasile Stan as a representative of the Transylvanian Metropolitan Church with130 delegates. Although there is no information about reading a petition or presenting a statement from Dr. Vasile Stan, his presence has clearly strengthened the ideal of Romanian unity.
