Summary/Abstract: The centennial of the ethnology and anthropology curriculum at the University of Belgrade is reviewed, portraying the history of the subject, theory, and methodology of ethnological and anthropological research at the Department of Ethnology and Anthropology. It is also done by revealing some public and intra-academic obstacles for developing anthropology in Serbia into social science in the Western fashion, thus describing certain disputes lasting for several decades.
