A Holistic Approach to Constructing a Methodology for Empirical Study of the „Shadow Economy“

Summary/Abstract: The article provides solutions for the elaboration of relevant methodological approaches to the empirical study of the “shadow economy” While theoretical research on the shadow economy seems comparatively ample and well developed, the study of methodological issues and the designing of survey instruments for studying the topic still lag behind considerably. One possible solution is to elaborate a methodology based on the holistic approach. The article traces the process of its construction and shows the contradictory process of the designing and verification of a methodology relevant to the concept of shadow economy.
