Summary/Abstract: Aim: The aim of this study is to find an answer to this question; “by which power patterns and power sources do strategic management practices shape the power pattern in public institutions?”. Method: The study was designed as a multiple case study in accordance with the research question. Seven public organizations that prepared their strategic plans were included in the study. A semi-structured interview was conducted with 11 people from these organizations. In addition, a series of data were collected via the observations made by the researcher during the period in which case studies were conducted. In addition to observations and interviews, documents related to organizations were also used in this study. The obtained data were analyzed based on the indicators with reference to emphasis in the literature. Findings: The analysis of the data indicate that strategic management practices are used as a tool to change the intraorganizational power pattern and can affect the intraorganizational power pattern in certain ways. Results: Factors related to organizational context were found to be significant in both influencing the intraorganizational power pattern with regard to degree and direction, and also usage as a tool.ää
