Housing Environment and Housing Space

Summary/Abstract: In the publications of geographers, sociologists and architects, dealing with housing issues, commonly used terms are: housing environment and housing space. At the same time, the authors in their publications generally do not specify the scope of used concepts and dependencies between these terms. While in the literature there are definitions of the housing environment, there is no such conceptual scope for the term of residential space. Therefore, the aim of the study is to illustrate the approaches to understanding the scope of these basic concepts in literature, how to interpret the relationship between the two terms –housing environment and housing space and to propose a definition of the concept of housing space and attributes characterizing it.
