Summary/Abstract: Balkan alliance was fractured almost from the very beginning of its existing. It was because of Macedonia which fate was lying on the hands of an arbitrator - the Russian Emperor. The struggle between supporters of Belgrade and those of Sofia began for the sympathy of Russians. It was carried out by Russian journalists, supporters of one side or another, and by advocates of Serbia and Bulgaria departed from those countries. The dispute about population of Macedonia also took place in a scientific sphere, even academies of science were involved in it. Belgrade’s agents proved to be more capable and prompt.
