Summary/Abstract: Actualization of such concepts as transgression and frontier in postmodern literature and culture is associated with understanding the virtuality of the modern culture. Identification of a postmodern person is determined not by socially established objective realias of the surrounding reality, but by virtual internal borders that man develops in a dialogue with the Other. The reality is transferred to the sphere of human mentality. The concept of the border becomes a keynote. The border is subdued in the process of transgression and acts as a frontier – a dynamic space between what is already completed and what is in a potential state. Transgressive practices in modern culture are simulacra, non-places, as well as literature itself with its attempts to go beyond the limits of conventionality, creating an illusion of perceiving things, which do not exist. Postmodern literature is positioned as a game that always violates its own rules and goes beyond its own limits, beyond an interpretative and estimated description of reality. The frontier as a manifestation of the marginal character of a postmodern person is imposed on the specific features of postmodern texts in mapping the mentality of the postmodern character, in particular his mental states, states of consciousness and linguistic discourse.
