Summary/Abstract: Based on the Universal Chronicle (Kronika wszystkiego świata) (1564) by Marcin Bielski and its Russian translations of the 16th–17th centuries, the paper addresses a description of travels by supposedly two navigators named Vespucci – Alberykus and Amerykus Vespucci. The paper consistently looks into the full array of intermediary sources on Vespucci’s travels to clear up this misconception and find out finally that its underlying cause were letters by the navigator himself.
