Summary/Abstract: In the European Union a large amount of CDW is generated, but there are significant differences between Member States. The paper presents the specific situation corresponding to each Member States and synthesizes the following data: quantity of CDW generated, Quantity of CDW /capita, quantity of CDW recovered, main obstacles to sustainable CDW management and main drivers to sustainable CDW management. The countries that have specific legislation regarding CDW have bigger recycling rates, their experience can be assimilated in the rest of European countries.
