One „Confidential” Document of Metropolitan Boris to Exarch Stefan from 1947 about the Situation of the Nevrokop Eparchy in the Condition of New Power

Summary/Abstract: The subject of this text is an interesting and still unpublished document representing a confidential Exposition of the Metropolitan of Nevrokop Boris to Exarch Stefan from June 1947. This document provides evidence of the situation in the Eparchy of Nevrokop under the circumstances of the new Communist power after the 9th of September 1944 and is a very valuable source of information about the ecclesiastical and public life in this period. The Metropolitan Boris presents the repressions against the clergy in the eparchy, the humiliating and severe position in which the priests are put, the intervention of authorities into the religious life of Christian population, the encroachments upon the temples and church institutions, etc. All these depict a gloomy picture of the life of the eparchy of Nevrokop after the 9th September 1944 and in particular after the death of the Metropolitan Boris in November 1948.
