Summary/Abstract: The interpretation of the aesthetics of modern literature will make it possible to better understand the notions of "common" and "different" in the Ukrainian works within the world discourse. Born in 1975, Svyatoslav Vakarchuk can be named as a distinguished representative of modern Ukrainian poetry. It would be appropriate to divide his legacy into two corpora: 1) love; 2) politics. Political lyrics reveal frustration of the lyric hero and the Ukrainian people at the beginning of XXI century, the reaction to the historical events of that period. The concept of “freedom” becomes the leading one and it is revealed by the philosophical idea – the aspiration of freedom, as well as by the historic mission to revive the past for the future of Ukraine as ethnos and state, and by dispelling of the “myth” about the Russian discourse superiority through the emphasis on Ukrainian priorities in the culture of the world community. The love lyrics by S. Vakarchuk continue the ancient Greek and Roman’s traditions. The lyric hero opts “to act” for the sake of his beloved woman, thus implementing the idea of self-realization as a proof of love, an attempt to break himself. The composition of the thesis/antithesis is accentuated by repetitions to instill the mood, to reveal the idea of responsibility for the life of the beloved woman.
