Summary/Abstract: In the article S. I. Skorohodovoi “The Riga Letters” in the Histiriosophy of Yu.F. Samarin” S.I. Skorokhodova shows the reason why the thinker wrote his sharp political pamphlet and describes the events and results caused by it in the Russian society. The author polemizes with some researchers who accused Samarin of partiality and of calling to “russify” the Baltic peoples. The author also concludes that “The Letters” influenced the direction of Samarin’s historiosophical problematics as well as other thinkers.
