Summary/Abstract: Romania had to pay a large blood tribute, namely more than a million dead and wounded people, losses evaluated at more than 72 billion lei in gold, not receiving anything in return, but on the contrary being forced to pay more than 22 billion gold coronas, including to the Hapsburg Empire. Romania was excluded from negotiations regarding its border with Hungary, Serbia and Austria, through the involvement of the Great Powers in Romania’s internal affairs regarding the exaggerated protection of the Hungarian minority. Upon the opposition of the prime minister Ion I. C. Brătianu, the Great Powers started to threaten Romania with armed interventions.
