Summary/Abstract: In the Black Sea region, illegal activities and trans-border organized crime have become a cruel reality. The lack of effectiveness of the measures taken by law enforcing agencies as well as certain barriers in the way of legalizing and control over economic activities, in addition to scarce cooperation among riparian countries in law enforcement allowed for/facilitated undertaking trans-national illegal activities. Moreover, these illegal activities have fueled corruption and have given rise to a lot of criminal activities, including terrorism. Furthermore, the main harbours in Romania and Bulgaria are attraction points for the organized criminal groups that use them for delivering smuggled goods to the EU, drug trafficking and illegal immigration.
