Summary/Abstract: Mercy is an element of common human experience, on which we count, which we express and receive throughout all our life. Apart from its philosophical and theological dimension, mercy has also an educational quality. The article explains the common understanding of the concept of ‘mercy’ and focuses on its perception from the Christian perspective and its manifestations in everyday life. A merciful person’s lifestyle is described in regard to the quotes from the Bible and the teaching of popes, i.e. John Paul II, Benedict XVI and Francis. The following parts of the paper investigate the issue of mercy education in family, school and youth organizations. The final part of the article discusses the value of mercy in the life of adults and elderly persons.
