The Problem of the Person

Summary/Abstract: This article presents what has been good and successful and what has been misleading and detrimental thus far in debates about the person. If the meaning of the term “person” does not aim to help form the personal and social life of individuals, then it ceases to be useful. This article aims to show, therefore, that, if the definition of the word “person” does not help individuals interpret events and situations, then the term itself becomes an incomprehensible hindrance and burden. Man can understand himself in Jesus Christ, and he finds the ultimate meaning of his life in God, meaning in and through Jesus Christ.
