Summary/Abstract: The adoption of the Law on Detective Activity, the conditions for the efficient and professional operation of the detective, who was missing for years. For the full and effective functioning of detective work in Serbia, it is necessary to adopt as soon as possible and regulations in this area. It is in the interest of the overall reform of the security system in the Republic of Serbia, which require faster response of the state and the whole society, as well as a high degree of professionalism in both the state and the private security sector in general. As the private security sector is relatively new on the security services market, it was necessary to normatively regulate this area, to the performance of detective jobs could be accessed from legal, security, economic, social, ethical and other aspects. Private investigators must be trained, in addition to basic, applied and specialized operational and technical knowledge and skills to respond quickly and tactfully, to use modern equipment and other high-tech means, which are at the state investigator, or a professional police officer.
