Summary/Abstract: The article presents practical use of word clouds in teaching Russian language in various academic classes. At the beginning the role and the importance of modern technologies in foreign language teaching were discussed. After that, some words about what word clouds are and what they are used for. The text also indicates programs and applications to create word clouds. The most popular ones were described in details (WordItOut, Wordle, Tagxedo, WordArt). What is more, based on an application WordArt.com, the way of creating a word cloud has been presented. An integral part of the article is to show the practical usage of the tools that are described in this work. The text includes grammar word clouds, lexical word clouds, word clouds that motivate to speak, and word clouds that awake creativity. Each of the types described in the article has examples and specific activities on which they can be applied. The summary provides a list of potential use of word clouds.
