Summary/Abstract: The article traces the theoretical and practical aspects associated with the court administration. After a brief excursion into the theoretical models of court administration, the ministerial model in Germany is analysed in more details and the negative experience with functioning of judicial councils in the Slovak Republic and Hungary is discussed. Subsequently the article analyses the court administration in the Czech Republic in detail and draws attention to the shortcomings and pitfalls of the current model. Although the absence of the Judicial Council does not necessarily represent a structural deficiency of the system, an institution like the Judicial Council involved in the administration of judiciary, whose competence, appropriate structure and method of establishment will be precisely defined, could represent an appropriate way to address the weaknesses of the Czech court administration. In conclusion, the article focuses on the aspects of establishment and organisation of the Judicial Council in the Czech Republic.
