Summary/Abstract: This article takes up the idea of hermits as an individual form of consecrated life. It is based on the available sources concerning the life of a hermit, especially in the initial period, and on publications. Raised questions are related to the specifics of hermit life and spirituality of the hermits. The hermit characteristics is made on the basis of the modern Code of Canon Law. It takes up the issue of the traditional activities of hermits. At the end there are suggestions for the formation for the life of a hermit and the premises resulting from the hermit spirituality for virgins and widows.
