Summary/Abstract: The collection of Romanian medals of the Museum of Oltenia represents 977 pieces, dated 1838-2004. An important component in the structure of this collection is the 159 medals that have represented the effigy of Prince and then King Carol I.In the present study we will bring into attention 30 of these medals, which present anniversaries, commemorations and events sponsored by the Royal House of Romania, in the context of celebrating, this year, the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the constitutional monarchy under Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen Dynasty. The oldest medal is the medal of the Regional Agriculture and Industry Exhibition held in Craiova in 1869 and the latest is from the Jubilee Year 1906. These medals were integrated into the heritage of the Museum of Oltenia from important public and private collections, such as: „Alexander and Aristia Aman” Collection, „Corneliu Bălăcescu” Collection, „Marius Metzulescu” Collection or „Nicolae Răcăreanu” Collection.
