Summary/Abstract: The author presents an early seventeenth century coin hoard discovered in an unknown location in Dolj County during the early 20th century. It is comprised entirely of European large size silver coins, the 25 pieces were issued by Austria (12), other states of the Holy Roman Empire (7), Hungary (3), the Netherlands (I), the Italian city of Pisa (1) and by Transylvania (1). The earliest coin dates from 1531 (Mansfeld) while the latest one is from 1604 (Hungary). The author also discusses aspects regarding the presence of large silver denominations in Wallachian hoards between the late 16h century and the early 17th century.
