Summary/Abstract: The rejuvenation of China’s relations with Central and Eastern European countries, including Poland, receives more attention than ever. While China tends to takeoptimist views about Chinese-Polish relations, Poland remains prudent over wishfulanticipation. The extent to which China and Poland have consensus on understandingand developing their relations requires further investigation. From the perspectiveof a strategic narrative, this article examines whether Warsaw accepts Beijing’snarratives of Chinese-Polish relations as a strategic partnership. The main hypothesisis that differences between Beijing and Warsaw in understanding the Chinese-Polishrelations can neither be easily overcome nor ignored. The findings indicate thatPoland partially welcomes China’s suggestions by limiting its understanding andsupport towards Chinese-Polish strategic partnership merely to diplomatic andeconomic aspects.
