Summary/Abstract: This paper points to several basic principles of designing two-way school dictionaries, with the focus on them being harmonised with students' needs, on the gradual increase in the complexity of contents, as well as on the analysis of causality between the two-language corpus and the type of linguistic structure of students' mother tongue. In a similar fashion, the paper is also concerned with both the functional and communicative principle. In addition, attention is paid to the significance of the differential method in the lexicographic approach to designing two-way school dictionaries.
