Summary/Abstract: Researchers, professionals and policy makers are unanimous today about the importance of renewable energies, their positive impact on the economy and their impactin terms of added value, socio-economic and environmental benefits. The purpose of thispaper is to show the growing importance of renewable energies and their contribution indevelopment, their advantages and disadvantages and the energy strategy adopted byAlgeria for the development and promotion of this sector. As a result, despite the availabilityof abundant sources of renewable energy and efforts to establish a legal and institutionalframework and the development of an ambitious agenda for the coming decades, muchremains to be done to bridge the gap. Delay and develop this niche and take certainmeasures deemed urgent.
