Summary/Abstract: In the second half of the 17th century, German-language press reports and broadsheets frequently reported on the life of the self-proclaimed Messiah Shabtai Zvi. These still not systematically evaluated reports are an important source for the Messianic movements in Hamburg and Amsterdam.
