Gjurchin Kokale – an autobiographical profile

Summary/Abstract: The research interest is focused to the autobiographical profile of the historical person Gjurchin Kokaleski (1775-1863), imposed as a main character in his close environment as well as an important figure in the whole Miyak’s Region in Macedonia and producing an idea of a common hero of the Miyaks. His personality became dominant in the family, village and region, affecting the Macedonian revival movement. Researching his personal identity, in modern Europeann perspective, we take into consideration how even today the personal identity of Kokaleski represents a preservation of the collective identity in a region of intensive migration process.
