The Oldest Christian Apologies

Summary/Abstract: From the beginning the Christians as adherents of a new religion have been confronted by scepticism, criticism, and controversy by pagan world. Unlike the other religious movements of the period, the early Christians decided to conduct a dialogue with pagan thinking. From the second century onward some Christians – apologists - tried to enter discussion with the pagan educated class. The aim of this effort was to refute objections against christianity and convince the pagans with rational arguments about Christian claim on religious truth. In the Works of Christian apologists took place an extensive discussion of early christianity with antique culture, religion, and philosophy.
