Summary/Abstract: Bishop Zoványi P. György served longest in office in the history of the District of Tiszántúl, yet the research concerning him are sporadic. It has been shown that his detailed biography was tampered with, therefore one must rely on it with caution. Recently, a folder surfaced from among the documents of the Reformed College of Zilah in the State Archives of Kolozsvár, containing some files of the Zoványi family. The most important among these is the testament of bishop Zoványi, written by him in 1751 at the age of 94, modified after his wife’s death in 1752. The official copy of the text dates from 1806, containing important data of the Zoványi family regarding their estate and the town of Zilah. This study briefly presents the testament and its text, including the content of the other file as well.
