Disability and a disabled person - in search of definitions of concepts

Summary/Abstract: Health plays an important role in life. Health, disease and disability and threeterms related to each other. Nowadays there is still lack of conformity in definingthe notions of “disability” and “a person with disabilities”. Consequentlythe formulations associated with the ways of naming and defining of the disabilitywere, and still are, the subject of dispute among a large number of scientists.There are plentiful definitions that differ. Some may have a broadmeaning whereas others a very narrow scope. The article is an attempt topresent a variety of different definitions and ways of defining persons withdisabilities and a selection of approaches to these issues.
