Summary/Abstract: The author of this article has analysed legal solutions in the United States and its progression in relation to actions aimed at increasing the security of the country, based on legislative and judicial control to obtain information relating to the foreign secret service by 16 different agencies of the US Secret Service. The system of controlling surveillance in order to protect national security of the United States has been constantly evolving. More noticeable trends indicate, on one hand, taking the needs of the secret service into account while changing regulations, especially in relation to increasing their ability to adapt their work methods to ensure extremely high effectiveness in fighting possible threats, mainly terrorism. On the other hand, there has been a constant increase in the extent of control over the secret service, not only by appropriate industrial commissions of the Congress, but also by the jurisdiction.
