Summary/Abstract: Japanese society is now westernized and the Japanese have become accustomed to treating the world objectively. However, it seems that, to a certain extent, they still retain a traditional sensitivity and mentality that leads them to integrate with nature. In particular, this specificity appears in the relationship between oneself and others. The conception of the other contributes to establishing the identity of the self, with one's existence depending on interpersonal relations. Comparing human identity as it is understood in Japanese culture with that in Western culture, our reflections will lead us to engage in a deep dialogue between these two cultures.
