Summary/Abstract: The need for theoretical elaboration of the interdisciplinary approach to literature – in this case using knowledge of psychology and psychiatry to understand literary works – grows not only because of parallel development of literature and literary theory, but also because the flexibility of that material is not followed by appropriate flexibility of literary critics who show particular resistance to the connections between exactly these “branches”. As the old forms in literature are renovated, the old methods in the literary interpretations are also reshaped so that they only remind us of something we have already seen and questioned. However, they show absolutely different aims and results: while the psychological approach moved along the edge of literary works, the interdisciplinary approach inspects their key categories and layers. Permanent war in the psychotherapy, as well as the war in literary criticism, caused their own branching and expended their relationships. As the consequence of this, the area of their mutual connections became almost immense.
