Summary/Abstract: The subject of the paper is the estimation of Magical Realism theoretical frames and its function in presenting socio-political reality. Unlike the painting and literature of Latin America, Magical Realism was not completely embedded in German literature. The reason of that might lie in the contradiction of the very syntagm which makes any approach to it more difficult, or the political environment in which it was established. In the contemporary literary science the prevailing concept of Magical Realism is the one that concerns it to be a narrative mode of Hispano American, West African and postcolonial literature in general. The aim of the paper is to make this concept a more relative one, since the term itself was founded in Germany, and that it is possible to prove the existence an independent development of Magical Realism poetry within the literature written in German. Regarding the topic in this way, the basic hypothesis is that Magical Realism in literature is not predominantly a Latin American style but a universal literary style, which tries to present in an artistic way the complex socio-political reality at some specific historical moments when the techniques of traditional realism lose their expressiveness and power.
