Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with the concept of globalization and the way it manifests itself within different spheres of social life, as well as with its influence on literature. It particularly examines the notion of travel (especially its connection with the concept of globalization), and magical realism, literary movement that reached its peak in the mid-20th century. As an example, we take the novel Sexing the Cherry by the postmodern English writer Jeanette Winterson. It is a story about the Dog Woman and her adopted son Jordan, and it concerns travelling, both real and imaginary, violence, sexuality, gender and love. The aim of the paper is to show how globalization influences the postmodern writers and their works.
