CULTURAL-HISTORICAL HERITAGE OF MEDIEVAL DREŽNICA

Summary/Abstract: Due to its characteristic geographical separation the area of Drežnica has managed to preserve its specifics for centuries, what makes it unique and interesting for further research. On the basis of published sources, literature and field research the paper endeavors to give a clearer picture of cultural-historical heritage of Drežnica and point to some unrecorded monuments, as well as the need of implementing systematic archaeological research of some localities. With this paper the authors would also like to point out the need for detailed study of the oldest modern history gravestones from the area of Gornja Drežnica, whose characteristic ornaments represent a valuable source of information on gradual leaving of medieval iconography recorded on standing tomb-stones, which were completely neglected in the professional and scientific literature.
