Summary/Abstract: This paper analyses population policy in Bosnia and Herzegovina presented through critical approach to its characteristics/disadvantages. In order to better undestand social significance of population/family policy in general, the text contains main principles of those kind of policies in selected european states – Sweden and France, as the most representative exemplars among developed countries. Taking into account the specifics of socio-economic and political situation in B&H, the authors have proposed some directions for establishing appropriate population/ family policy on the central level of the state.
