Summary/Abstract: Witold Święcicki served as a judge for the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court before the Second World War. In 1945, immediately following the liberation of the place of his deportation, he declared his readiness to serve in his former pre-war position. As Warsaw had been destroyed, the seat of the Supreme Court relocated to Łódź. For six years in Łódź, Święcicki was engaged in judicial, publishing and writing work. There were also underlying difficulties, typical of the post-war circumstances. The family grew up, with Witold still as its head. In September 1948, he was appointed as the acting President of the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court, a post which he held until 1954. During that tenure, in 1950, he returned to Warsaw. His dismissal as President of the Civil Chamber in December 1954 and the subsequent cerebral hemorrhage shortly thereafter, had primarily family consequences and to some extent also professional. After October 1956, Witold Święcicki was very active, among other things, becoming directly involved in the work of the Supreme Court Office of Judicial Decisions. In 1962 he was retired. Until his death in 1965, he headed the civil judicial decisions section of a Polish law magazine.
