Summary/Abstract: Two poets at the peak of their creative work, two cycles of elegies, a possible connection? Jiří Orten reads Rilke's Duino Elegies in 1939, his own elegies are published in 1941. How could such inspiration look for decades? Is there evidence in Orten's diaries? Two different worlds of experience, two different poetic languages, common topics excluded?
